Owners Instructions Dear Pool Owner, Solahart takes this opportunity of welcoming you as an owner of a new Solahart Product. In this manual you will find instructions explaining the efficient operation of your Solahart Solar Pool Heating System. Yours Sincerely, Solahart Staff
Your Solahart Solar Pool Heating System operates equally well with both salt and fresh water pools and is not damaged by cold weather.
The temperatures obtained by your pool will depend on the length of time your pool heating system operates during sunny periods.
Other factors which may also effect the temperature of your pool are:
To obtain the best performance from your Solahart Solar Pool Heating System you should use it in conjunction with an automatic controller. This will ensure that the system is available to run whenever useful solar heating is possible.
Trees and shrubs which shade the pool or collector array should be cut back to maximise solar input.
If you have a pool blanket or cover make sure that it is fitted at least between the hours of 6.00 PM and 8.00 AM.
The chemical condition of your pool water should be checked regularly to ensure that free chlorine levels are maintained to a maximum of 2.5 ppm during normal operation and 5 ppm during super chlorination cycles.
The Filter Pump must be running before the Solar Pump is switched ON. Failure to do this may result in filter damage.
Your Solahart Solar Pool Heating System works by pumping water from your swimming pool through the solar collector array. The solar collector array should be positioned to collect the maximum possible solar radiation and is best located on a roof adjacent to the swimming pool.
The flow of water from the pool through the collector array may be controlled by sensors connected to a Solahart Automatic Pool Controller. If the water in the pool is cooler than the collector array temperature, the Solahart Automatic Pool Controller switches the Solar Pump ON. When the Solar Pump is ON, water is pumped from the swimming pool through the collector array and is heated before being returned to the swimming pool. If the water coming from the pool is warmer than the collector array temperature or it is at the desired temperature set on the controller, the Solar Pump is switched OFF. When the Solar Pump is off the water does not pass through the collector array although the filter may continue to operate.

AUTOMATIC OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Most automatic controllers incorporate a controller mode switch and pool water temperature setting device.
Under normal circumstances the controller mode switch should be in the AUTOMATIC position.
The pool water temperature should be set to your desired temperature (22 to 25C)
NON AUTOMATIC OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
For installations where an automatic controller has not be used, both the Filter Pump and Solar Pump should be plugged into electrical supply outlets controlled from a common time clock or other switching device. The arrangement must be such that the Solar Pump can only operate if the Filter Pump is operating.
The pumps should be switched so that they are both operating during periods when solar energy is available and the Solar Pump is not operating when the pool is at the desired temperature or if there is insufficient solar energy available to heat the pool temperature.
